Abstract

Fullerenethiol was synthesized and self-assembled on the surface of gold nanoparticle to form a homogeneous bright ring with a thickness of 4–5 nm. Optical limiting performance of the core–shell nanoparticles was investigated with nanosecond pulse. The experimental results show that the gold nanoparticles possess better optical limiting effect compared with the parent fullerenethiol.
