Abstract

Abstract Observation of fruit-set in Sophora microphylla Ait. suggests that differences in both natural populations and ornamental plantings depend on the extent of self-pollination which can occur. This appears to be regulated by the time of style elongation which, if it occurs before anthesis, effectively prevents selling. A single gene difference could account for the observed variation.
