Abstract

Goddard Space Flight Center has developed reusable software for their satellite programs called Core Flight Executive / Core Flight Software (cFE / cFS). This software shows significant potential to be useful for future spacecraft programs. However, a potential difficulty in the adoption of that software for general use on human-rated spacecraft is the additional requirements placed on software to meet the human-rated certifications. Johnson Space Center is addressing these potential problems by extending the cFE / cFS architecture to include time and space partitioning. Further changes are currently under development to extend the executive software for use on multiple computers on a spacecraft.
