Abstract

This is an analysis of international trade and investment in the 1990s. It lays out a comprehensive US trade strategy for the period ahead. The book examines the influence of the World Trade Organization and argues that economic globalization is beneficial to the US economy in the short- and medium-term, while raising questions about national sovereignty and security in the long-term. The essays explore US interests in economic globalization, steps towards free trade and US regional free trade objectives.
