From Colonial Narratives to Ecological Narratives: An Experiment of Green History Pedagogy in High School History Learning
This study evaluates Green History Pedagogy in Indonesian high schools, finding that it fosters ecological awareness, critical reflection on colonial legacies, and enhances students' understanding of history's environmental dimensions, thereby linking history education to sustainability and local identity.
Conventional history teaching often centers on colonial narratives that highlight power, conquest, and national identity. Although such narratives help shape collective memory, they tend to overlook the ecological dimensions of history and the interaction between humans and nature. This anthropocentric view narrows students’ understanding of how the environment actively shapes historical change. This study aims to examine the implementation of Green History Pedagogy as a history learning approach that emphasizes ecological awareness in high schools in Jember Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The approach was developed to shift historical narratives from colonial perspectives toward a more critical and contextual understanding of the environment. This research employs a Mixed Methods Research (MMR) design involving classroom observation, interviews with teachers and students, analysis of lesson plans, and questionnaires on ecological attitudes. The findings reveal that implementing Green History Pedagogy encourages teachers and students to reflect on the relationship between history, environment, and local life. Students became more critical of the colonial legacy contributing to environmental degradation and demonstrated increased ecological awareness throughout the learning process. Overall, this approach effectively enhances the relevance of history education to environmental sustainability and local identity issues.

The fastest route search is a problem to find routes having a relatively small or empty number of congestion or density so that the required travel time is faster to get to a location. One of them is the route to the tourist attraction in Jember regency, East Java has many relatively solid lines. Some researchers have done a lot of research on finding the shortest path using Ant Colony System (ACS) method. However, the ACS method has a weakness, where more ants pass through a path, the clearer the footprint but the volume of ants passing through the path is also longer. Therefore in this research use ant adaptive on ACS method to find the fastest path to the tourist location in Jember Regency. Due to the increasing number of densities, it takes longer to get to the food source. In this study, ant adaptive for ACS method is used to determine the optimal number of ants in searching for the fastest path to the tourist attraction in Jember District, East Java. Various trials are done to prevent the search process of resolving the already traced solution space to find the fastest path. The fastest path does not have to have the shortest path but has the fastest time with the paths having relatively little or no density at all. The results showed that ant adaptive for ACS method developed in this research is able to find the optimal number of ants in determining the fastest paths to the tourist object so that the search result of the fastest route of tourist attraction in Jember Regency in accordance with the reality of the passable path and has a density relatively small or almost nonexistent. The success rate was conducted on 8 tourist objects in Jember with 98 paths tested using road data in Jember regency, East Java with the fastest path solution influenced by the closer to the optimum distance, the more number of ants influenced.

This method paper addresses an untapped but important type of IT turnover: IT entrepreneurship. We seek to develop a mixed methods research (MMR) design to understand the factors and processes that influence turnover behavior of prospective (nascent) IT entrepreneurs. To do this, we review two prior streams of research: the entrepreneurship literature and IT employee turnover. We incorporate the results of this literature review into a conceptual framework describing how the relevant factors leading to entrepreneurial and turnover behavior change over time, either gradually or suddenly, in response to specific events. In addition, we also contribute to the research by arguing that mixed methods research (MMR) is appropriate to bridge the gap between entrepreneurial literature and the IT turnover literature. A third important contribution is the design of the MMR, combining a longitudinal approach with a retrospective approach; a qualitative with a quantitative approach and, the exploratory design with the triangulation design [1]. Finally, we discuss practical implications for IT managers and IT entrepreneurs.

Indonesia as an agricultural country is a country rich in agriculture. Land is a very important part of everyday life, the main function of land is as a place to live, apart from that land can be used for plantations, industry and many other uses such as social functions. As settlements become increasingly dense and more land is converted into housing and settlements, the amount of land is decreasing, the problems arising from land conversion activities are very worrying, so this case is very concerning. This research uses a statutory and conceptual approach with a normative juridical research type. The conversion of rice fields into housing in Jember Regency is based on Jember Regency Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2015 concerning Jember Regency Spatial Planning for 2015-2035. Jember Regency is one of the administrative regions of East Java Province. Most of the Jember Regency area is lowland, with an average land height of 83 meters above sea level and is an area that is quite fertile and very suitable for the development of agricultural commodities and plantations, so it is known as an area or food barn and a country's foreign exchange earner in the agricultural sector. East Java Province. However, agricultural land in Jember Regency has experienced many changes, characterized by increasingly narrow agricultural land. The narrowing of agricultural land in Jember Regency is due to housing construction which is increasing every year. The conversion of land in agricultural areas not only results in rice yields, but many other productions have to be sacrificed.

Background: Mixed-methods research is gaining popularity, leading to an increase in mixed-methods novice researchers. Novice researchers need professional experience such as reading about mixed-methods research designs to become expert researchers. Objectives: This article presents a methodological reflection of how I, as a mixed-methods novice, dealt with research design challenges in the context of a mixed-methods research project on reading comprehension. Method: This methodological reflection firstly provides background of the complexity of studying reading comprehension. This is followed by methodological design challenges I experienced and a discussion of how the RAND reading heuristic offered a way to address these challenges. Lastly, I include details of selected findings of the empirical research project to show how the research design led to reading comprehension inferences. Results: Using a heuristic to plan a mixed-methods research design can benefit a novice researcher by assisting with the identification the data that can be collected. Secondly, the heuristic can infer the integration of qualitative and quantitative findings. Conclusion: The complexity of designing mixed-methods research mirrors the complexity of reading comprehension. The use of an uncomplicated heuristic assisted me in navigating these complexities. The design enabled me to gain knowledge about the reading comprehension challenges of first-year students, to inform reading support. Contribution: This article contributes, firstly, to the field of mixed-methods research by presenting an example for novice researchers. Secondly, the reading comprehension heuristic and matching research design can be used in other contexts.

In the last three years, the rate of early marriage in Jember Regency has been quite high, and in 2023 it ranked first in East Java. Raising the minimum age limit for prospective female brides has not been able to reduce child marriage rates because it can still be circumvented through dispensation applications. Therefore, synergy between relevant stakeholders is needed, especially the role of the Jember Regency government in reducing early marriage to create a child-friendly Jember Regency. The purpose of this research is to understand community perceptions of the high rate of early marriage in Jember Regency, analyze government efforts to prevent early marriage, and measure the legal effectiveness of the implemented measures. This research uses qualitative methods with a sociological juridical approach. The results of this research are as follows. First, according to community perceptions, the high rate of early marriage in Jember Regency is influenced by several factors such as parents' economic problems, low education levels, arranged marriage culture leading to early marriage, parents' culture of indebtedness to their helpers, engagement customs conducted simultaneously with unregistered (sirri) marriage ceremonies, parents' concerns about their daughters being stigmatized as unmarriageable, pregnancy outside marriage, and misinterpretation of religious teachings. Second, Jember Regency Government's efforts to reduce early marriage rates through Circular Letter Number 474/196/35.09.317/2024 concerning dispensation application services. Third, from the perspective of legal effectiveness theory, the Jember Regency government's efforts to reduce early marriage rates have not been effective because the Jember Regency government only issues a Regent's Circular Letter regulating administrative requirements for marriage dispensation applications, which has a weak legal position and is easily circumvented by the community.
