Abstract

We present numerical results on the diffraction produced by optical gratings in the Raman–Nath, Bragg and intermediate regimes calculated by means of the Fresnel Gaussian Shape Invariant. We describe how this numerical method based on a superposition of Gaussian wavelets, allows propagating, in an iterative manner within the grating, the illuminating beams, providing accurate calculations of the diffractive orders. We also include results due to a truncated, non-diffractive Airy illuminating beam.
