Abstract

In this paper frequency-domain estimators will be presented for application in the field of modal analysis. In "Experimental Modal Analysis" system identification is used to model mechanical systems with a few inputs and hundreds of outputs. This requires adapted estimators designed to handle large amount of data in a reasonable amount of time. Next, attention will be paid to "Operational Modal Analysis" and it will be shown how the modal parameters can be estimated from output-only data. Finally, a combined experimental/operational identification approach will be introduced.
