Abstract

Deficits in error processing are a cognitive component of schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, a finding supported by evidence from event-related potentials (ERPs). The error-related negativity (ERN), specifically, has been linked most closely to the intensity of negative symptoms (e.g., anhedonia or avolition), compared to positive and disorganized symptoms, in both schizophrenia patients and persons at clinical high risk (CHR) for the disorder. This literature, however, is limited to the time domain, while time-frequency decomposition may yield a more robust measure of such activity.
