Abstract

The subject of the paper is comparative analysis of Italian and Polish idiomatic expressions containing word hand and it’s aim is to distinguish types of phraseological equivalence in described group. 38 Italian idiomatic expressions were collected and 36 Polish equivalents were found in translations dictionaries. In the first part of the paper were described few research concepts of equivalence. The second part is a description of collected material. Analyzing idiomatic expressions were divided into 4 groups, depending on number of differences between Italian and Polish expression. Most differences concerned grammar, lexis concerned a little bit less. In collected material were 2 Italian expressions that did not have Polish equivalents.
