Abstract

Shortly of Fray Junipero Serra, O.F.M., the late Maynard J. Geiger, О. F. M., entertained the idea of preparing a single volume about the other presidentes of the California missions. It was suggested that it might be preferable first to compile a biographical work that would include all the friars who worked along California's EI Camino Real That book was subsequently published by the Huntington Library under the title Franciscan Missionaries in Hispanic California, 1769-1848 in 1968.
