Abstract

Abstract The role of social work in the admissions process to long-term care facilities is discussed from an international perspective using three countries: Israel, Australia, and South Africa as illustrations. Although each of these countries is concerned with demographics, limited resources and meeting the cost of services for an increasing number of older persons, their governments, culture and societal expectations differ. Hence the nature of the challenges and the potential solutions differ.
