Abstract

An original method is presented for the efficient fractal approximation of rectangular grey-scale image blocks. Its application to the block coding of images is applied to standard test images, and compared to ADCT coding. Fractal coding by this method is relatively efficient and holds promise for applications in which low computational cost is a priority.
