Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to identify relationships between human resource practice (HRP), human capital (HC), and supply chain integration (SCI) in the context of omni-channel retailing (OCR) on the basis of dynamic capability view (DCV). It also applies firms’ characteristics as moderators and uses product variety as a control variable to examine their effects on these relationships. A research survey was conducted based on a sample of 230 omni-channel (OC) retailers in China’s market. The results reveal that HRP is positively related to HC and that HC has a positive impact on SCI in the context of OCR. Moreover, employees’ capital is more important for SCI’s success than managers’ capital for OC retailers. In addition, this study found that product variety has a positive effect on SCI, whereas the moderating effect of retailers’ characteristics is insignificant compared to the influence of HRP on HC.
