Abstract
Formulation of cream for treatment of burns has been studied. Cream formula consisting of 3% ethanolic extract of sweet potato leaves as an active ingredient. Cream bases used in this study were variated with and without Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). The formulas were evaluated for their organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, cream type, particle size distribution, skin irritation test and effects on burns. The evaluation results showed that ethanolic extract of sweet potato leaves can be formulated in creams which are physicaly stable and provide a healing effect on burns, tested on animals. The results showed that the F1B formula has the fastest healing effect on burns (7 days). From the statistical calculation using one-way analysis of variant (ANOVA) we found that sweet potato leaf ethanolic extract-containing cream provide healing on burns, where the value of F count treatment is smaller than the F table at α 0.05.
