FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN BIBLIOGRAPHY IN THE 19TH CENTURY (ON NEWSPAPER MATERIALS «ODESSKIY VESTNIK»)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the role of the newspaper «Odesskiy Vestnik» in the formation and development of Ukrainian bibliography in the XIX century. The main stages of the formation and development of Ukrainian bibliography. The formation and development of Ukrainian bibliography was influenced by socio-political, socio-economic and historical-cultural factors. The basic laws of the development of Ukrainian bibliography from the point of view of literary, bibliographic, historical and cultural understanding of the problem are considered. The main directions of development of the Ukrainian bibliography are described. The main factors of the formation of the Ukrainian bibliography are revealed. It is established that the greatest successes in the formation of Ukrainian bibliography reached in the second half of the XIX century. The bibliography at this stage was free from ideology, in their work, Ukrainian researchers were guided by objective scientific criteria. The existence of a number of cultural centers that were engaged in bibliographic activities contributed to the formation of Ukrainian bibliography. On the example of publications on the pages of the newspaper «Odesskiy Vestnik» characterized the constituent elements of the formation and development of the Ukrainian bibliography. The role and importance of a comprehensive study of bibliographic publications on the pages of the newspaper «Odesskiy Vestnik» in the formation of the Ukrainian bibliography is analyzed. The practical significance of the results of the study is to provide certain information to library workers in the formation of specialized funds of the Ukrainian bibliography. Studying this topic allows us to reconstruct previously unknown or lost book collections, explore the readership of a book published in the XIX century, and trace its distribution and fate.
