Abstract

The 2015 International Conference on Pumps and Fans (IPCF) builds on the experiences gained from, and successes of, the previous International Conferences on Pumps and Fans from 1992 to 2013. This 7th conference convened from October 18-21 in Hangzhou, China. This conference was organized by Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Jiangsu University, State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control, Xi'an University of Technology and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. The objective of the ICPF conferences is to provide an opportunity for experts, researchers, engineers and students in the field to report on the latest developments in pumps, fans, compressors and other fluid machinery. The conference encourages the presentation of work in progress and promotes discussion of the problems encountered. Distinguished scholars from all over the world are invited to give reports on the new research areas of fluid machinery, and to honour Professor Zuyan Mei for his contribution to these areas and his organization of the previous conferences. The conference comprised 134 highly informative technical papers, of which 14 plenary lectures were delivered by 14 distinguished scholars, and 120 technical papers were presented in 14 oral sessions and one poster session. They comprehensively cover the latest practice and findings in the field of pumps, fans and compressors, including pump design and simulation, multi-phase flows and cavitation, experimental study, transient behavior and unsteady flow, optimal design and theory analysis, numerical simulation and CFD application, power machinery, bearings and seals and so on.Sixty-eight papers of ICPF2015, which were published in this volume of IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, have been peer reviewed through processes administered by the editors of the ICPF2015 (Yulin WU, Shouqi YUAN, Leqin WANG, Weirong HONG, Zhengwei WANG, Shuhong LIU, Xingqi LUO, Zuchao ZHU and Dazhuan WU).We sincerely hope that the 7th International Conference on Pumps and Fans with Compressors and Wind Turbines is a significant step forward in the worldwide efforts to address the present challenges facing modern fluid mechanics.
