Abstract
Abstract : Prior to the Khobar Towers bombing, in June 1996, was not a wholesale term in the Air Force. Antiterrorism was the expression used to describe measures taken to deter terrorist attacks and protect installations. Force protection is not a synonym for antiterrorism. Instead force protection is a larger effort designed to provide comprehensive security for personnel and resources with antiterrorism being a subset. This paper will canvass force protection measures against ground attacks from strategic to tactical levels for Air Force personnel and resources in the U.S. Central Command theater of operations.
