Abstract

The Cambridge Greensand has been shown to be of Lower Cenomanian age on the basis of the foraminiferal population, and the interval represented by the non-sequence at its base has been determined by comparison with the Folkestone-Dover succession. By graphical means it has been possible to demonstrate that the lower half of the Hypoturrilites carcitanensis assemblage subzone is absent from the Lower Chalk succession, while the whole of the Stoliczkaia dispar zone is absent from the Gault Clay succession.
