Abstract

This study aims to understand the challenges listed by Paulo Freire regarding critical-liberating pedagogy as opposed to traditional education. Given this, the authors analyze the possibilities of popular education beyond the walls of formal schools. To this end, this investigation is methodologically based on two reports of experience in non-formal educational spaces, in addition to bibliographical research of an exploratory nature. We found that Paulo Freire's work is a powerful instrument for building new methodologies aimed at improving the teaching-learning process.
