Abstract

A focussed microwave irradiation is described which facilitates microdissection of brain nuclei and the assay of the concentrations of cyclic AMP, cyclic guanosine monophosphate, choline, DOPA and various glucose metabolites which undergo rapid metabolism during post mortem processes. This technique is compared with freeze-blowing, liquid nitrogen immersion and decapitation. The results obtained with the various techniques are discussed.
