Abstract

Important advantages are to be gained from the use of a focused microwave digestion system in palynological sample preparation. These include improved palynomorph recovery, operator safety, speed of sample preparation and reduced reagent costs. Digestion methods are described for calcareous, gypsiferous and silicate lithologies. Oxidation methods are described for coals and AOM rich kerogen, which are easily modified for liberated kerogen with lighter oxidation requirements.
