Abstract
The overtreatment of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer after prostate-specific-antigen (PSA) screening raises questions about the amount of harm induced by all the armamentarium available. Even though radical prostatectomy or conformal radiotherapy provide high rates of cancer control, the sequelae induced by these treatments could impair the quality of life of men for the rest of their lives. In this context, we congratulate Hashim Ahmed and colleagues1 for the results provided by their elegant study in which they showed, among patients with low-risk or intermediate-risk disease, that focal high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a safe treatment strategy with satisfactory short-term quality of life.
