Abstract
SUMMARY Haematocrit, plasma osmolality and plasma sodium, potassium, chloride, inorganic phosphate and total protein concentrations were measured in healthy piglets aged from birth to 30 days old. All showed significant variations with age. Changes observed in blood and plasma composition immediately after birth were attributed to an expansion in plasma volume.
