Abstract

Leaf and ray flower flavonoids were characterized from the 15 species of Helianthus series Corona-solis. Leaf flavonoids consisted of a mixture of 6-methoxyflavone aglycones, flavonal glycosides, and, in some species, anthochlors. Ray flowers contained anthochlor and flavonol glycosides. Little variation in leaf flavonoid patterns and none in ray flavonoids were observed between species.
