Abstract

The remarkably stable sulfenium cation salts were prepared from the reaction of 2,6-bis(dimethylamino)methyl-1-lithiobenzene with sulfur dichloride. These compounds have been characterized by various NMR and elemental analysis. A single crystal X-ray structure determination revealed that two amino groups coordinate directly to the cationic sulfur atom.
