Abstract

Background: Since the emergence of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), many countries have experienced at least three wave patterns of the pandemic. The aim of our study is to compare the characteristics, and disease severity during the first and second waves of the pandemic in Kano, North-West Nigeria. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of 332 patients with confirmed COVID-19, seen at the isolation center of Kano from April 2020 to March 2021. Data was extracted from the medical records of the patients using a proforma. Data were summarized using frequencies and percentages. Mean and standard deviation were used to present continuous variables.
