Abstract

ABSTRACTWithin the couple and family therapy (CFT) literature there remains a lack of sufficient guidelines for clinicians working with trans clients. Given the multisystemic needs of trans clients, specific recommendations and examples of successful clinical work with the population are needed. Student therapists in a CFT program provided therapy to three different trans individuals. A demonstration of feminist and narrative therapy approaches with transgender clients will be given along with an application of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health standards of care from a systemic perspective—insights from the clinical work and implications for practice will be discussed.
