Abstract

Features of financing the French theater industry in the second half of the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty first centuries are studied in the article. The main types of financing, such as public and private financing, are considered. The main functions of the Ministry of Culture of France and the Association for the Support of Private Theaters, which are important institutions in financing the theater industry, are highlighted. The law on patronage of the arts is studied that formed favorable conditions for corporate philanthropy. Corporate philanthropy, in turn, urges to intensify corporate sponsorship and to form the image of socially responsible company. The historical-genetic method of research revealed such phenomenon as decentralization, as well asthe formation and further development of French theater since the second half of the twentieth century. Historical-typological method made it possible to determine the main areas of funding in the French theater industry and main trends of its development.
