Abstract

A new local method for filtering (smoothing) a linear combination of exponential functions with additive measurement noise is proposed. This method is based on the application of the moving geometric mean with the use of two to five neighboring samples. A numerical example of Lanczos is used to show that the proposed method allows reduction of the rms error with respect to the initial one by a value of 14–50%.
