Abstract

Rapid and accurate on-site detection of biothreat agents is essential for health security. Here, an electrochemical immunoassay-based detection platform for multiplex detection of up to six biothreat agents with 20 min total assay time is presented. The detection platform is integrated in a robust suitcase and can be operated both by main voltage and by battery mode. Limits of detection for toxins and bacterial agents are in the low ng mL−1 range or in the range of 103–105 colony-forming units per mL, respectively. A standardized protocol for sample preparation of liquid as well as solid samples was established for analysis of biothreat agents in various sample matrices.
