Abstract

An investigation is reported of the field-induced uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of the electrodeposited Fe-Co alloy films with the composition 15–52 at. % Co. The observed value of the uniaxial anisotropy constant Ku attained the maximum value of 9×104 erg/cm3 which is considerably larger than that obtained for the vacuum evaporated Fe-Co films. Measurement of an average internal stress was made on these films, and the notable increase in the stress was observed at 52 at. % Co where the partial formation of super lattice FeCo was also observed. The characteristics of the magnetic and the structural properties obtained here are fairly different from those obtained for the vacuum evaporated Fe-Co films. The observed anisotropy seems to depend mainly on the atomic ordering.
