ABSTRACT Known as digital self-harm or self-cyberbullying, fictitious online victimization (FOV) refers to anonymously sharing online negative information about the self. The current study examined correlates of FOV as well as the dimensionality of a measure of the phenomenon. Three hundred forty-six adult respondents (59.3% female, 72.0% White, and 78.9% heterosexual; Mage = 36.69; SD = 14.24) completed a questionnaire. Positive correlations were observed between composite FOV scores and anxiety, depression, loneliness, shame, guilt, stress, anti-mattering, traditional bullying perpetration, and both cyberbullying victimization and perpetration. Negative relationships emerged between FOV and self-esteem and self-compassion. Factor analytic results of the FOV measure revealed a three-factor solution: Pretend FOV, Reactive FOV, and Disseminating FOV. Patterns of relationships of each factor with other measures were not uniform, highlighting the multi-dimensionality of FOV. The findings support the formative nature of the FOV construct at the factor, but not the individual, level, and highlight where prevention/intervention efforts might be directed.

Study on Mistuning Identification of Vehicle Turbocharger Turbine BLISK
  • Jun 16, 2014
  • Hiroaki Hattori

Blade vibration is one of the most critical items to be solved in turbocharger design. Turbocharger has much broader operating range than other turbo machinery and some unavoidable resonance may remain in operating range. In such a critical situation, predicting resonant vibration level is desirable for evaluating criticality. Additionally, knowing what amount of margin should be taken for the predicted nominal vibratory stress (known as “Magnification Factor”) is also important for the structural design. Blade to blade vibration response have significant scatter in real rotor. This kind of phenomena is called as “mistuned bladed disk effect” and discussed by many researchers in aero-engine field. Some research studies have appeared also in the automotive turbocharger field but its feature is not well understood especially on the item of mistuning identification and the cause of mistuning. Considering above situation, studies on mistuned vibration were performed for turbine BLISK of automotive turbocharger. Three type of mistuning (frequency mistuning, geometric mistuning, and mistuning of macroscopic property of directionally solidified material) were assumed and these effect on above items (mistuning identification and the cause of mistuning) were investigated. This paper consists of three parts. At first, frequency mistune model and geometry mistune models were prepared. To build a frequency mistuning model, FMMID proposed by Feiner and Griffin [6] is applied. After the basic function test by virtual BLISK model with known mistuning, FMMID was applied to the actual BLISK. Natural frequency mistuning of each blade was identified by FMMID based on the modal measurement result. Obtained frequency mistuning is reflected to the (geometry tuned) FE model by changing the Young’s modulus of each blade in corresponding rate. The 3D measurement was also performed to the same BLISK and dimensional information from this measurement was reflected to the geometrically mistuned (material property tuned) FE model. In the next step, vibration analysis (eigenvalue and frequency response) was performed and these results were compared to the measurement result. Vibration measurement in operating condition was performed at the resonant point of mode3 and nozzle count excitation frequency by utilizing the NSMS (Non-intrusive stress measurement system). Analytical result of the frequency mistuning model shows a good agreement with the experimental, while the analytical results of the geometrically mistuned model did not match to the experimental result. At the last part, cause of discrepancy between the analytical result of the geometry mistuning model and the measured result was investigated from the view point of the effect of the anisotropy of elastic constants on the vibration characteristics of the DS (Directionally Solidified) blades.

The aim of this study is to detect the school characteristics/attributes by examining the efficiency of school management related to innovative teaching through digital mobile e-learning. This will be conducted by evaluating the results of DEA efficiency measure and data mining method (DMM).The results of DMM indicate that the schools with the total number of students in schools about 1400-3000 persons, the teacher-student ratio between 7.4 %-8.0 %, the tablet PC numbers about 1200-3000 units, the technical teacher ratio of digital mobile e-learning is about 8%-16% and the total equipment expenses associated with tablet PC about the range of 1.5-3.0 Million NTD could obtain higher operational efficiency of school management through Innovative Teaching via Digital Mobile e-learning. Based on the analytical results, the ranks of school management efficiency could divide into three groups, in the high-efficiency group (TE=1), there are three public high schools and one private higher vocational school. These all high schools are in northern Taiwan. In the medium-efficiency group (TE 0.85∼0.99), there is only one school in northern Taiwan. The low-efficiency school group (TE <0.85), there are three public schools and one private high vocational school. The three public schools are in northern Taiwan while one private high vocational school is in eastern Taiwan. In practice, we find that the public high schools are more efficient than the private high schools and public high schools are more efficient than private high schools that can achieve digital mobile e-learning. Also, and schools located in northern Taiwan more efficient than elsewhere. These research findings can also become a reference for educational institutions in developing strategies and policies for digital mobile e-learning in high school of Taiwan area.

Optimal sensor placement strategy and sensor design for high-quality system monitoring
  • Jul 29, 2004
  • Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE
  • Robert X Gao + 2 more

This paper presents a systematic investigation of the effect of sensor placement on the measurement data quality and subsequently, on the effectiveness of machine system health monitoring. First, signal propagation process from the defect location to the sensor was analyzed. Numerical simulations using finite element modeling was then conducted to determine the signal strength at several representative sensor locations. The analytical and numerical results showed that placing sensors closer to the component being monitored resulted in higher signal-to-noise ratio, thus improving the data quality. Using meso-sized piezoceramic chips, the obtained results were then experimentally evaluated. Comparisons with a set of commercial vibration sensors verified the developed sensor placement strategy. The presented study quantitatively justified why placing sensors closer to the machine being monitored is of critical importance to ensuring high quality data, and confirmed that the customized shock wave sensing approach can achieve comparable result for vibration measurement, but with a much less space requirement.

A new algorithm for variance-based importance measures and importance kernel sensitivity
  • Nov 29, 2012
  • Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part O: Journal of Risk and Reliability
  • Changcong Zhou + 2 more

Variance-based importance measure has proven itself as an effective tool to reflect the effects of input variables on the output. Owing to the desirable properties, researchers have paid lots of attention to improving efficiency in computing a variance-based importance measure. Based on the theory of point estimate, this article proposes a new algorithm, decomposing the importance measure into inner and outer parts, and computing each part with a point estimate method. In order to discuss the impacts on the variance-based importance measure from distribution parameters of input variables, a new concept of kernel sensitivity of the variance-based importance measure is put forward, with solving algorithms respectively, based on numerical simulation and point estimate established as well. For cases where the performance function with independent and normally distributed input variables is expressed by a linear or quadratic polynomial without cross-terms, analytical results of the variance-based importance measure and the kernel sensitivity are derived. Numerical and engineering examples have been employed to illustrate the applicability of the proposed concept and algorithm.

  • D L Zhou

We identify the correlation in a state of two identical particles as the residual information beyond what is already contained in the 1-particle reduced density matrix, and propose a correlation measure based on the maximum entropy principle. We obtain the analytical results of the correlation measure, which make it computable for arbitrary two-particle states. We also show that the degrees of correlation in the same two-particle states with different particle types will decrease in the following order: bosons, fermions, and distinguishable particles.

Analisis Strategi Pemasaran UD. Arif Bersaudara Menggunakan Pendekatan SWOT dan QSPM
  • Nov 6, 2025
  • Hatta: Jurnal Pendidikan Ekonomi dan Ilmu Ekonomi
  • Suparno + 2 more

Competition in the songkok (traditional cap) industry in Gresik Regency has become increasingly intense, especially for small enterprises such as UD. Arif Bersaudara, which face challenges in maintaining competitiveness amid changing market trends and consumer preferences. This study aims to analyze effective marketing strategies for UD. Arif Bersaudara by identifying internal and external factors and determining the most appropriate strategic priorities for business development. The research employs the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis to identify strategic factors and the QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) to determine the order of strategic priorities. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 92 respondents and analyzed quantitatively using weighting and attractiveness score calculations. The results show that the total IFE Matrix score is 4.80 and the EFE Matrix score is 4.772, placing UD. Arif Bersaudara in the “Grow and Build” strategic position. Based on the QSPM results, the main priority strategy is to leverage superior product quality, design variations, and size diversity to capture opportunities in digital and international markets, with the highest TAS value of 8.37. The study concludes that UD. Arif Bersaudara should focus its strategy on improving product quality and implementing digital marketing to strengthen competitiveness. The strength of this research lies in the application of the combined SWOT–QSPM methods, which provide measurable analytical results, while its limitation lies in the relatively small and region-specific number of respondents. Future research is recommended to expand respondent coverage and incorporate digital marketing–based analysis to make MSME marketing strategies more adaptive to technological developments.

Relationships Between Social Skills, Social Support, and Problem Behaviors for Boys in Residential Facilities for Conduct Disorders
  • Jan 1, 1994
  • Matthew Shepherd

Cohen, Sherrod, and Clark (1986) suggested that social support has no real effect on its own, and that it is nothing more than a proxy for social skill. The main aim of the present thesis was to use multidimensional measures to clarify the nature of the relationships between social skill, social support, and problem behaviors in boys in residential facilities for conduct disorders. The main features of the method of the thesis involved having 92 boys and staff members of the residential facilities complete a packet of questionnaires. The boys were asked to complete a measure of their perceived social support and a self-rating of social skills. The staff were asked to complete ratings of the boys' social skills and a checklist to assess the boys' problem behaviors. Correlations were computed between these multidimensional measures. Additionally, multiple regression analyses were performed with problem behaviors as the conceptualized dependent variables. The results indicated a consistent pattern of positive relationships between social skills and social support variables. Few patterns of relationships were found between social support and problem behavior. Consistent patterns of negative relationships were found between the staff ratings of boys' social skills and problem behaviors: clear but less consistent patterns of negative relationships were found between boys' self-ratings of social skills and problem behaviors. When the effect of social skill and social support upon conduct problems was examined, the results indicated that some dimensions of social support and the interaction between social skill and these support dimensions had effects greater than that of social skill alone. The pattern of this interaction suggested that as social skill increased conduct problems decreased, with greater decreases at higher levels of social support. However, at lower levels of social skills, decreases in conduct problems were negligible or nonexistent, regardless of the level of social support. Although the results of the present study need to be replicated, the observed additive and interactive effects of social support provide tentative evidence that. Insofar as affecting conduct problem behaviors, social support is more than a proxy for social skills.

Criterion Validity of the Early Communication Indicator for Infants and Toddlers
  • Jan 18, 2019
  • Assessment for Effective Intervention
  • Charles R Greenwood + 4 more

The Early Communication Indicator (ECI) is a progress monitoring measure designed to support intervention decisions of the home visitors and early educators who serve infants and toddlers. The present study sought to add to the criterion validity claims of the ECI in a large sample of children using measures of language and preliteracy not previously investigated. Early Head Start service providers administered and scored ECIs quarterly for infants and toddlers in their caseload as part of standard services. In addition, a battery of language and early literacy criterion tests were administered by researchers when children were 12, 24, 36, and 48 months of age. Analyses of this longitudinal data then examined concurrent and predictive correlational patterns. Results indicated that children grew in communicative proficiency with age, and weak to moderately strong patterns of relationship emerged that differed by ECI scale, age, and criterion measure. The strongest positive patterns of relationships were between Single Words and Multiple Words and the criterion at older ages. Gestures and Vocalizations established a pattern of negative relationships to the criterion measures. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

Local Norming and Validation of an Adaptive Behavior Screening Instrument
  • Sep 1, 1986
  • Educational and Psychological Measurement
  • R Steve Mccallum + 2 more

Local norming data from the Brief Index of Adaptive Behavior (BIAB) are presented (Study 1), as are construct and concurrent validity data (Studies 1, 2, and 3). Participants were 430 children, 330 of whom were randomly selected within certain strata from one southeastern state. Factor analytic results from Study I yielded an easily interpreted three-factor solution, which accounts for 52% of the variance and corresponds to the three domains from the BIAB. Conventional item analysis techniques yielded significant item-domain (.66 to .87) and item-total (.64 to .79) coefficients. Reliability indices ranged from .93 to .97. Modest correlations emerged from comparisons of the BIAB to AAMD Adaptive Behavior Scale-School Edition, ranging from .25 to .55. Stronger correlations were obtained from comparisons of the BIAB to the new Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale-Classroom Edition, ranging from .64 to .71 for like-named domains. Because the BIAB is conveniently administered and scored, and is particularly amenable to collection of local norms, it is recommended for use as a screening test. Also, collection of local norms for the BIAB is recommended.

  • Yanti Karmila Nengsih + 9 more

This study investigated the relationship between parents perceptions of children's values in Indonesian families, focusing on economic, social, emotional, and religious dimensions. The investigation was based on background factors, such as gender, location of residence, and education level, as well as correlations and regressions between dimensions of children's values. The study participants consisted of 255 parents living in various urban and rural areas in Indonesia. Data were collected using the Children's Values Scale adapted for the Indonesian context. The study findings showed that there were no significant differences in children's perceptions of values based on gender or education level. However, there were significant differences based on location of residence, especially on economic and religious dimensions. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between social and emotional dimensions, while a negative relationship was found between economic and emotional dimensions in some contexts. The results of multiple linear regression analysis using the Stepwise method showed that economic and religious dimensions had a significant impact on overall family relationship patterns. This study highlights the importance of understanding the factors that influence parents' perceptions of children's values to support effective and harmonious parenting in Indonesian families.

Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Arabic Medical Outcomes Study-Social Support Survey-6 among Saudi Adults
  • Jan 1, 2025
  • Saudi Journal of Medicine & Medical Sciences
  • Mohsen M Alyami + 1 more

Background:Perceived social support represents a key factor influencing both mental and physical health, yet brief Arabic measures are scarce. Objectives:To assess the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the abbreviated 6-item Medical Outcomes Study–Social Support Survey (MOS-SSS-6) among Saudi adults. Methods:An online questionnaire was distributed via social media platforms to assess perceived social support, psychological distress, quality of life (QoL), and coping. Cronbach’s alpha (α), McDonald’s omega (ω), and corrected item-total correlations were used to evaluate the scale’s reliability. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted on 50% of the sample, using maximum likelihood with varimax rotation to identify factor structure. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) validated the model in the other 50%, with fit assessed through RMSEA, SRMR, CFI, TLI, and other indices. Concurrent validity was evaluated through Pearson’s correlations with relevant psychological measures. Results:A total of 1028 Saudi adults completed the questionnaire. Suitability of the data for EFA was supported by a strong KMO value (0.83) and significant Bartlett’s test of sphericity (P < 0.001). Parallel analysis indicated that a three-factor solution was optimal, explaining 80% of the variance. CFA confirmed this model with excellent fit indices (CFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.07, SRMR = 0.02, GFI = 0.99, AGFI = 0.95). Negative relationships with depression (r = −0.24, P < 0.01) and anxiety (r = −0.17, P < 0.01), and a positive correlation with QoL (r = 0.37, P < 0.01) and adaptive coping strategies provided evidence for concurrent validity. The Arabic MOS-SSS-6 exhibited high internal consistency (α = 0.90, ω = 0.90).Conclusions:The Arabic MOS-SSS-6 is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring perceived social support among Saudi adults, demonstrating significant correlations with psychological variables relevant for psychological assessments and interventions.
