Abstract

Abstract A novel high speed, high contrast, high resolution ferroelectric liquid crystal spatial light modulator using hydrogenated amorphous silicon as a photoconductor (a-Si:H - FLC - SLM) is presented. This device is optically addressed and has good bistability. (1) Response time : Typical values are 500 and 250μsec for rise and decay time, respectively. (2) Contrast ratio : Typically 100 : 1 to 150 : 1, best result 200:1. (3) Resolution : 60∼80LP/mm observed from the USAF resolution test target. Interference fringes with a resolution of more than 120LP/mm are obtained by He-Ne laser.
