Abstract

It is not unusual for pediatricians to encounter congenital stridor in the outpatient clinic. Since congenital stridor can occur from such primary diseases that require early diagnosis and treatment, it is of essential importance to search for the primary disease. In our clinic, we have introduced fiberoptic laryngoscopy (FLS) to the outpatient clinic. We have been utilizing this approach in diagnosis and determination of treatment protocol. In the recent 5 years, we had 2 cases of thyroglossal duct cyst (TGDC) and, through these cases, affirmed the usefulness of FLS.It is important that the clinical value of FLS is recognized widely by pediatricians and, to this end, the specialists answer their needs.(JJPP 2003: 14: 145-151)
