Abstract

It is proved that the summation operation is expressible in terms of the operation of summation of one-place functions, the operation of substitution, and certain simple operations and functions. An analogous assertion is established for the bounded multiplication operation. Simple representations of classes of Skolem- and Kalmár-elementary functions, being one-place functions, are proposed as corollaries.
