Abstract
Wireless sensor networks are increasingly deployed in industries for ensuring the safety of critical equipment and to boost production on manufacturing floors. The sensor devices in these networks are programmed to frequently send out data and/or to report events of interest. Localization allows to precisely locate the origin of such events and also to query devices of a specific location. But, this process of localizing devices poses a challenge in a dynamic network topology. Similarly, Network topology also poses a challenge in a dynamic network as network topology impacts performance, cost of the network and speed of the network. To keep information of the whole network nodes and their links in a wireless sensor network is a challenging task. In this paper, we present an efficient and fast localization scheme designed to handle dynamic changes in network topology as well as a proposal to handle information of network topology whenever topology changes. The usage of the proposed scheme can be restricted to new node joins enabling fast localization or can be used as a full-fledged localization mechanism. The proposed scheme significantly lowers the overhead and time required for localization and topology status.
