Abstract

Interactive curve and surface design using interactive graphics systems is very attractive. However the designer's expectations can be satisfied only if easily understood definition methods are available and if the system responds without recognizable delay. These requirements can be met by careful selection of curve and surface definition methods. A subclass of B-spline is found to fulfill all requirements and can easily be implemented in fast special purpose hardware for surface generation and curve interpolation.
