Abstract
The motivation of writing this paper is to clarify a number of issues arose from a debate organized by Christian Amanpour, a CNN Anchor between Professors Bhgawati and Vandana Shiva. We argue that Professor Bhagwati's assertion that farmers' suicides were more of an institutional and cultural phenomenon is incorrect. In fact, evidence suggests that farmers' suicides are a direct consequence of mechanical application of Neo-Liberal policies pursued under the umbrella of globalization. We offered Professor Bhagwati an opportunity to respond to our comments but he refused to do so.
