Abstract

Background: Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) phenotype and lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) are important inherited risk factors for premature coronary artery disease (CAD). Lipoprotein(a) mediates cardiovascular risk through prothrombotic, proinflammatory and proatherogenic properties. The association of FH and Lp(a) with angiographic disease severity in patients with premature CAD has yet to be established.
