Abstract

A case of staphylococcal infection of an aortic suture line, with development of a leak and false aneurysm, is presented. Successful treatment of such a complication has not been reported in the literature to our knowledge. Several observations have been made about the need for constant vigilance on the part of all surgeons during any operation. It is imperative to use all possible precautions to prevent the potentially disastrous complication of infected suture lines in cardiovascular surgery.
