Abstract

ABSTRACT This study tested the hypothesis that the relationship between faith in God and poor mental health (depression, stress, and anxiety), in higher education students, is mediated by the constructs of hope, meaning of life and resilience. A sample of 527 Australian tertiary students from across the country completed an online survey. Path analysis was used to test the hypothesis. The results supported the proposed model. These findings provide preliminary support for a model that, with further testing through longitudinal data, may guide the development of faith-based interventions for university students with depression, anxiety, and stress.
