Abstract

The influence of the perpendicular field H p (caused by the current flow) on the magnetization of amorphous Co 70.3Fe 4.7Si 15B 10 ribbon has been investigated in some detail. A simples model explains well the behaviour of coercive field ( H c ) and other relevant parameters at low H p but cannot explain their variations at high values of H p. The observed saturation of H c and decrease of the maximum magnetization ( M m) at high H p have been ascribed to the domain structure of the amorphous ribbons. The above findings limit the possible application of H p for the reduction of loss ( E) in amorphous ribbons.
