Abstract

Abstract The present paper reports on the development and implementation of a collaborative project with teachers of children with severe learning difficulties. Through the organization of a series of teacher meetings and through the media of videotape and a simple ‘handbook’, teachers were introduced to the topic of counting and encouraged to implement the playing of simple number games in the classroom as a teaching device, aimed at improving children's counting competencies. The meetings proved very successful and implementation of the games quite feasible.
