Abstract
Optical multicasting based on multiwavelength injection locking of a Fabry–Perot laser diode is proposed as a viable solution to implement real-time optical switching in WDM optical networks, reducing the impact of Rayleigh backscattering induced crosstalk in bidirectional transmission, and allowing full wavelength reuse. Efficient low-power optical injection for full duplex transmission at 1.25 Gb/s over 25 km of SMF is demonstrated. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 58:1466–1469, 2016
