Abstract
This paper presents the method and results of calculating the output voltage of the boost-converter with Cockroft-Walton voltage multiplier according to the values of the capacitors and the load. The combination of boost-converter with voltage multiplier provides a very high voltage gain, which can be adjusted by changing the duty cycle of the boost converter. It is shown that the output voltage of the converter is a complex function of the switching frequency, duty cycle, number and value of the capacitors and load resistance. The proposed method for calculating the external characteristic is based on the analysis of the energy losses in the capacitors of the multiplier. The formulas and graphs for estimating the output voltage as a function of the converter and load parameters are obtained. Experimental results confirmed the theoretical expectations.
