Abstract
Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of P16,a novel member of anti - oncogene protein family, and survivin,a novel member of inhibitor of apoptosis protein family,in oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical technique S -P was used to detect the expression of P16 and survivin protein in 40 cases of OSCC,40 cases of OLP tissues and 26 cases of normal oral mucosa, and their clinical significance was analyzed. Results The expression of P16 and survivin were significantly different in normal oral mucosa,OLP and OSCC tissues (P < 0.05 ).The expressions of survivin and P16 showed a positive correlation in three types of tissues. Conclusions P16 gene and survivingene involve in the transformation of OLP to OSCC.P16 gene and survivin gene are important in the development and progress of OSCC. Key words: P16; Survivin; Oral lichen planus; Squamous cell carcinoma; Gene; Suppressor
