Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of PTEN and Survivin in pancreatic cancer tissues and normal pancreatic tissues and the role of PTEN and Survivin in development of pancreatic cancer. Methods Two -pass immunhistochemistry was used to detect the expression of PTEN and Survivin in pancreatic cancer tissues of 48 patients and normal pancreatic tissues of 15 patients. Results The expressions of Survivin was significantly higher in cancer (77.1% ) than those in normal tissues (0%).The expressions of PTEN was significantly lower in cancer( 31.3% ) than those in normal tissues (66.7% ).The expressions were correlated with carcinoma differentiation, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage in pancreatic carcinoma, and not correlated with gender and age of patients. The expression of Survivin in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was negatively related to expression of PETN.Conclusions The abnormal high expression of Survivin and the loss of expression of PTEN are closely related to the occurrence, development, metastasis and invasion of pancreatic carcinoma. Key words: Pancreatic cancer; PTEN; Survivin
