Abstract
China University of Petroleum (CUP) was founded in 1953 and celebrated its 60th anniversary last year in Houston and Beijing, a moment in its history of development. As professor and dean, I was invited to give a luncheon talk at the 83rd Annual International Meeting of SEG in Houston last fall. Now it is worthwhile to sort out a timeline for this history of exploration geophysics at China University of Petroleum. Several universities in China provide exploration-geophysics education, among which China University of Petroleum is unique with all its virtue and merits.
