Abstract
The analysis above provided insight into the educational and future career aspirations and expectations of natives and migrants but did not take into account background characteristics. The following sections develop a model to investigate the conditions and mechanisms that shape students’ educational aspirations and to identify differences in the background-adjusted probability to plan to complete the highest level of general education between natives and migrants. In line with common specifications of models of educational aspirations, expectations and choice, the analysis proceeds in a stepwise manner.
