Abstract
Personalized medicine is generally defined as the tailoring of medical treatment to the individual genetic features of each patient. In the practice of psychotherapy, where links between the genetic profile of the patient and the efficacy of a particular form of psychotherapy have yet to be established, clinicians nevertheless are faced with adjusting the psychotherapeutic strategy to the particular characteristics of the patient. “Brands”, such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, or interpersonal therapy can be tailored to patients with particular symptom profiles, conflicts, and subjective distress.
